Last week we presented our integration of Text Mining Assistants in Wikis at Biocuration2012, the Conference of the International Society for Biocuration.
The conference took place in Washington DC during the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
Several interesting presentations and posters proposed different ways of using wikis for biocuration: for instance, Andrew Su and Ben Good presented the Gene Wiki portal dedicated to the annotation of gene and protein function using a crowdsourcing approach.
Protein and gene curation was the topic of most of the talks given on days 1 and 2. Day 3 offered us a text mining session ("Integrating text mining into biocuration workflows") then an ontology session focused on "standards". A great meeting, thanks to the organizers!
The Biocuration2012 Virtual Issue published in the DATABASE journal is here and our poster is there.
