The International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC) is the leading conference for research on Semantic Web topics. It is held annually and is the successor of the Semantic Web Working Symposium (SWWS).

The conference organisation body has established a SWSA Ten-Year Award which recognizes the most influential papers from the ISWC proceedings ten years prior. In 2013 a paper from the ISWC 2003 will be recognized for the 10 year award.

Previous ISWC conferences have been held in Sardinia, Italy in 2002, Florida, USA in 2003, Hiroshima, Japan in 2004, Galway, Ireland in 2005, Athens, USA in 2006, Busan, South Korea in 2007, Karlsruhe, Germany in 2008, Washington D.C., USA in 2009, Shanghai, China in 2010, Bonn, Germany in 2011 and Boston, USA in 2012. Call for Evaluation Papers
http://iswc2013.semanticweb.org/content/call-evaluation-papers

The Semantic Web and Linked Open Data has been an active area of research for several years. For the second time, the 12th edition of the International Semantic Web conference runs the Evaluation Track. Its goal is to consolidate research material and to gain new scientific insights and results by providing a place for in-depth experimental studies of significant scale. It aims at promoting experimental evaluations in Semantic Web/Linked Open Data research trying to create a research cycle between theory and experiments as in other sciences (e.g., physics).

SWAIE 2012: Semantic Web and Information Extraction Paper Deadline (Extended)

2012-08-07
America/Montreal

http://semanticweb.cs.vu.nl/swaie2012/

Full-day workshop in conjunction with EKAW 2012

Submission deadline: August 7, 2012 (extended)

There is a vast wealth of information available in textual format that the Semantic Web cannot yet tap into: 80% of data on the Web and on internal corporate intranets is unstructured, hence analysing and structuring the data – social analytics and next generation analytics – is a large and growing endeavour. The goal of the 1st workshop on Semantic Web and Information Extraction is to bring researchers from the fields of Information Extraction and the Semantic Web together to foster inter-domain collaboration. To make sense of the large amounts of textual data now available, we need help from both the Information Extraction and Semantic Web communities. The Information Extraction community specialises in mining the nuggets of information from text: such techniques could, however, be enhanced by annotated data or domain-specific resources. The Semantic Web community has already taken great strides in making these resources available through the Linked Open Data cloud, which are now ready for uptake by the Information Extraction community. The workshop invites contributions around three particular topics: 1) Semantic Web-driven Information Extraction, 2) Information Extraction for the Semantic Web, and 3) applications and architectures on the intersection of Semantic Web and Information Extraction.

CfP: Workshop on Open Data in a Semantic Web Perspective (WODSWP 2012) Paper Deadline [extended]

Open Data is the idea that certain data should be freely available to everyone to use and republish as they wish, without restrictions from copyright, patents or other mechanisms of control. Open Data recently, gaining popularity with the rise of the W3C Semantic Web prospective vision.

We would like to invite researchers and actors of the open data movement to present their work to the workshop. This workshop would like to bring together data providers, initiative groups, technology providers, and researchers to facilitate the dissemination of ideas, methods and promote new research perspectives related to the Open Data and the Semantic Web applications.
