Last week we presented our integration of Text Mining Assistants in Wikis at Biocuration2012 [8], the Conference of the International Society for Biocuration [9].
The conference took place in Washington DC [11] during the National Cherry Blossom Festival [12].
Several interesting presentations and posters proposed different ways of using wikis for biocuration: for instance, Andrew Su and Ben Good presented the Gene Wiki [13] portal dedicated to the annotation of gene and protein function using a crowdsourcing approach.
Protein and gene curation was the topic of most of the talks given on days 1 and 2. Day 3 offered us a text mining session ("Integrating text mining into biocuration workflows") then an ontology session focused on "standards". A great meeting, thanks to the organizers!
The Biocuration2012 Virtual Issue published in the DATABASE journal is here [14] and our poster is there [15].
