The International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC) is the leading conference for research on Semantic Web topics. It is held annually and is the successor of the Semantic Web Working Symposium (SWWS).
The conference organisation body has established a SWSA Ten-Year Award which recognizes the most influential papers from the ISWC proceedings ten years prior. In 2013 a paper from the ISWC 2003 will be recognized for the 10 year award.
Previous ISWC conferences have been held in Sardinia, Italy in 2002, Florida, USA in 2003, Hiroshima, Japan in 2004, Galway, Ireland in 2005, Athens, USA in 2006, Busan, South Korea in 2007, Karlsruhe, Germany in 2008, Washington D.C., USA in 2009, Shanghai, China in 2010, Bonn, Germany in 2011 and Boston, USA in 2012. The Semantic Web and Linked Open Data has been an active area of research for several years. For the second time, the 12th edition of the International Semantic Web conference runs the Evaluation Track. Its goal is to consolidate research material and to gain new scientific insights and results by providing a place for in-depth experimental studies of significant scale. It aims at promoting experimental evaluations in Semantic Web/Linked Open Data research trying to create a research cycle between theory and experiments as in other sciences (e.g., physics).
